Oda based the God’s Knights on the Knights Templar - One Piece

The Knights Templar, formerly known as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, were a medieval Christian military order established around the early 12th century (900 years ago).

The order emerged during the Crusades, a series of holy wars fought between Christians and Muslims over control of the Holy Land. (The crusades sound like the war that happened between the 20 kings and the ancient kingdom maybe the concept of God’s knights was established back then, and the members have changed since then or they are all from the void century like Imu).

The Knights Templar’s primary mission was to protect Christian pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem and other holy sites in the region. ( Sounds like the God’s Knights protecting the Celestial Dragons in the holy land).

The order’s headquarters were located in the captured Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which was believed to be the site of the biblical Temple of Solomon. ( Sounds like the God’s Knights operating in Marie Joise).

The order was said to have over 20,000 members but when it was founded it had only a few members. Almost all their members used to have French origins, resulting in their place of origin being added to their names.

But here is the thing. When you add their place of origin in their name, you do it with the word “de” meaning “of” in French(I think. I do not know French). So if you want to say Geralt of Rivia in french, you say Geralt de Rivia. But thats besides the point.

The “de” is very similar to the “D” initial in One Piece. And also Mary Geoise clearly has a lot of similarities to France.

The name of some of their most important members are as follows (if this theory is correct, then this could be some of the names of the God’s Knights themselves)

1. Hugues de Payens: One of the founders of the Knights Templar and the order’s first Grand Master.

2. Godfrey de Saint-Omer: A knight who played a significant role in the early years of the Templars and served as their second Grand Master.

3. Bernard de Tremelay: The third Grand Master of the Knights Templar, who led the order during a period of expansion.

4. Jacques de Molay: The last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, who was executed in 1314 after the order was disbanded.

5. André de Montbard: A close relative of Bernard de Clairvaux, who became a Templar knight and served as a trusted advisor to Bernard and subsequent Grand Masters.

6. Gerard de Ridefort: A prominent Templar knight and military leader during the Crusades, who served as the Grand Master from 1184 to 1189.

7. Robert de Craon: A knight who became the fourth Grand Master of the Templars after Gerard de Ridefort.

8. Renaud de Vichiers: The 13th Grand Master of the Knights Templar, who played a crucial role in defending the Crusader states in the Holy Land.

9. Odo de St Amand: A Templar knight and author who wrote the “De Correctione Fraternitatum,” a book detailing the regulations and customs of the Templar Order.
