Dog Doesn’t Know Why Her Family Gave Her Up After 7 Years

One dog in particular stood out when a group of canines from the congested Habersham County Animal Shelter in Georgia came to The Little Guild in West Cornwall, Connecticut. Everyone in Georgia said that Jodi was special. Shelter staffs had also recognized Jodi’s uniqueness.

“Jodi meant a lot to the staff and volunteers from their shelter,” Kelsey Turick, an employee at The Little Guild said. “Volunteers cried when they found out we were going to take in Jodi and find her a home!”

Jodi, who had lived with her family for seven years, was turned over to the shelter in Georgia. She was scared and unsure of what was going on when she arrived to The Little Guild, and the staff members who welcomed her could see she didn’t know where her family had gone.

“[She] was very scared when she first got here and just wanted to go home,” Turick said.

Since then, Jodi has adapted to her new environment considerably better and formed relationships with staff members and volunteers. She has grown to trust her new pals, which has enabled her amazing personality to emerge, making everyone fall even more in love with her.

“She has a great personality and always wants to be with people,” Turick said. “She loves to play fetch outside but also loves to snuggle up under a blanket with you. She is an older gal but still has lots of energy and loves her daily walks … She is a very special girl and means a lot to us.”

It’s incredible that Jodi hasn’t been adopted yet, especially considering how well she would fit in with practically any family. She loves other dogs, cats and kids, and really just wants loved ones to hang out with whenever she can. She has had some adoption interest and has a family lined up to come and meet her, so hopefully her wait for a home will be over very soon.

All of Jodi’s friends, both in Georgia and Connecticut, are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the appropriate family for her.
