This Blind Dog Refuses To Go Anywhere Without His Best Friend

Jimmy, an aging Chihuahua dog, has a strong bond with Stevie, a blind Shar-Pei dog; Jimmy is definitely his best friend. Both reside in the care of a rescue organization and they cannot be separated.

“We have never witnessed a friendship like this two have in our 30 years of rescuing. It’s also intriguing because Jimmy seems to be caring for his blind spouse despite knowing this. He has simply been glued to him. He keeps repairing it and never stops washing his face. All he wants is to be with him,” Neda Rosa, board member and volunteer for California Shar-Pei Rescue said.

Jimmy and Stevie were sent to the Ramona Humane Society at the beginning of October after being found walking around by themselves in Southern California. However, when no one came forward to claim them, the California Shar-Pei Rescue group took them in.

“We are a particular kind of rescuers, we only rescue Shar-Peis. But when we saw how bonded these two dogs were, we thought that there was absolutely no way we could leave his little friend behind,” Rosalyn, a California Shar-Pei Rescue member said.

Jimmy and Stevie are looking for a permanent home at a shelter managed by California Shar-Pei Rescue.

It is crucial to make it clear that any potential adopter needs to understand Stevie’s health problems. Besides being blind, he’s started having seizures, and will probably need to be on medication for the rest of his life. Nevertheless, he is a really loving dog that is eager to please.

And, of course, the dogs must be adopted together.

“These two will only be adopted out as a package. We will not separate them. Ever. So it’s going to take a special person who is looking for a package deal,” Rosalyn said.
